14TH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS FOR THE STUDY OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

Loles López Gabarro

The Regional Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality, through the General Secretariat for Families, Equality, Gender Violence, and Diversity, is organising the XIV edition of the International Congress for the Study of Violence against Women, a forum for meeting, training and research on gender violence.

Ongoing and specialised training in gender violence is crucial for addressing this severe violation of human rights. Conducting and disseminating studies and research is also essential to raise awareness of this reality in all its forms. This new edition is based on the belief that such efforts are necessary to combat gender-based violence.

The 14th Congress will take place on November 13 and 14 at the Malaga Trade Fair and Congress Centre (FYCMA).

During these days, a scientific program will feature presentations and thematic discussion panels. The latter will discuss thematic areas related to this year’s motto: “Gender Violence: A Social Problem in the 21st Century

As in previous editions, the aim is to comprehensively and multidisciplinarily delve deeper into the concept of gender violence, its different manifestations and the different acts through which it is exercised. The primary goal of this new edition is to address gender violence as a critical social problem that affects society as a whole. On the other hand, it aims to raise awareness of and involve men in its prevention and eradication. To eradicate gender-based violence, this analysis will focus on its various forms, with particular attention to children, adolescents, and people with disabilities. Gender violence in sports, digital violence, social factors that influence gender violence, and the evaluation of public policies on gender violence will be discussed.

The organisation of this Congress is based on the belief that continuous and specialised training and information on gender violence, as well as the participation of different sectors directly involved in its treatment, is crucial for progress in the prevention, care, and eradication of gender-based violence. This includes professionals working in social promotion and protection systems, women’s associations, groups, social agents, professional associations, and citizens in general, working across different territories
.

This scientific event is intended for individuals who support victims of gender-based violence, such as those working in judicial and educational institutions, women’s centres, social affairs, law enforcement, health care, communication, and other related fields. It is also aimed at organisations and individuals working towards gender equality and preventing male violence against women.

We invite you to participate in this 14th Congress and submit scientific papers and good practices to enrich the experiences presented at this new edition. Likewise, we encourage you to take part in debates on social networks as they are crucial for achieving a multiplier effect.
